Muddy Waters & The Rolling Stones - Mannish Boy (Live At Checkerboard Lounge)

MusicTelevision.Com presents the Rolling Stones and Muddy Waters performing Mannish Boy

On November 22 1981, in the middle of their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Buddy Guy's club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz also played their part. It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera. Restored from the original footage and with sound mixed and mastered by Bob Clearmountain, this amazing blues night is right here. Enjoy!

Dom La Nena

Dom La Nena is a angel faced twenty four year old Brazilian born cellist and singer who became a citizen of the world as she has lived in many places on her journey to become the artist she is. Two takes of the same song are below and not sure which take of the same song I enjoy most. Both are unique in their own way and very delightful. The first one below is a fresh live take that the Los Angeles based radio station KCRW recorded in their studio earlier today. It is an excellent stripped bare live performance that offers a beautiful glimpse and sweet recording of this fine artist! The next take is the studio version of the song and conceptual official music video. Enjoy!

30 years ago today... Michael Jackson introduced The Moonwalk

The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, MJJ, Moonwalk

On March 25, 1983, Michael Jackson performed for the 25th Anniversary of Motown Records in front of a live studio audience at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California. It was on this great day in music history that King of Pop introduced the forever famous Moonwalk while performing Billie Jean. The Moonwalk was actually developed by Bruno Falcon, widely known as Taco, one of Michael's friends, choreographers and dancers for many years.

Ten Years After at Woodstock (1969)

Received Bob Lefsetz' mailbag e-mail this morning and read the letter (down below) from Terry Ellis, co-founder of Chrysalis Records and a producer tied to way too many great records to name including my favorite Jethro Tull album titled Aqualung. Terry wrote to Bob about Alvin Lee who just passed away recently. He referenced Alvin with Ten Years After at Woodstock. Had to revisit this excellent take. Enjoy!

Ten Years After - I'm Going Home at Woodstock on August 17th 1969

Band members: Alvin Lee -- guitar, vocals, Leo Lyons -- bass, Ric Lee -- drums, Chick Churchill -- organ

=======
From: Terry Ellis
To: Bob Lefsetz
Subject: Alvin Lee

Bob,

When Alvin Lee walked on the stage of a small UK blues club in 1967 in his trademark clogs, blonde locks and dramatic good looks and began to play that red Gibson with the peace symbol sticker, fingers flying across the frets, you just knew you were in the presence of a star.

Ultimately millions agreed as Ten Years After stole the show at the UK's Sunbury Jazz and Blues Festival in 1968 and later, as, for many, Alvin became the face of Woodstock after the movie was released in 1970.

Alvin was a warm man, with a ready smile and an easy sense of humor to go with those flying fingers.

As an aspiring musician in England, Alvin entrusted his life and career to two recent University graduates, still wet behind the ears! In doing so, Alvin helped put in place the first building block of a business which became known as Chrysalis.

Chris Wright and I will always be grateful.

Alvin left us far too early and we will miss him,

Terry

Susan Calloway - Chasin The Sun

MusicTelevision.Com, Susan Calloway, Music Television
Susan Calloway
I love artists who can sit down with an instrument and sing their asses off with little or no pomp and circumstance. Susan Calloway delivers that in this most excellent live performance of her original song titled Chasin The Sun. First saw this video below a few years ago and I still love to crank it up regularly and ponder her words that reflect on that dose of reality dreamers with big ideas are faced with as they are often kicked to the curb, but manage to get up again and keep going. Whether one loves the song or not, it's a song with legs that keeps selling and selling and selling in good numbers for any artist, indie or major. She may not yet be a household name in America, but she is organically growing a strong international following by traveling and playing shows around the world.
